Volunteers are the life blood of our charity - which was set up by volunteers in 1981 and is a fantastic example of a volunteer-led organisation.
Some volunteers are based in our a modern open plan office in Gargrave, on ground floor beside the Leeds Liverpool Canal, with onsite parking. There is a bus stop about 200m away and Gargrave Railway Station is about 3/4 of a mile away.
Read more about our current volunteer team and the valuable work they do.
We always welcome new volunteers as some of our volunteer team move on to jobs/study etc and so free up space for new volunteers!
We are particularly interested from people keen to help on our guided walks (taking the register, back marking, leading if you are interested) and potentially finding out about being a Trustee.
If you are interested in volunteering please ring Ann Shadrake on 01756 749400 or email Ann Shadrake, Executive Director
Volunteers needed as Walks and Talks Helpers
Can you help us run a year round programme of exciting walks and talks throughout the Dales? Most of our events are on Saturdays, and happen about once a month.
You could help by leading or back marking a walk, or helping set up a talk in a village hall. There will always be other volunteers at the events, so you’ll be part of a small team. You dont need any special qualifications, just a friendly helpful attitude and a commonsense approach. Please ring Ann Shadrake on 01756 749400 or email Ann Shadrake, Executive Director
New Trustees
We have an excellent and active Board of Trustees but are always willing to talk to anyone with a passion for the Dales. You could meet our Chairman, Mark Corner (pictured, retiring AGM 2019) for an informal chat, and perhaps come along to a meeting to find out what Trustees actually do!
We particularly welcome interest from people with any of the following skills - leadership, financial, governance, knowledge of the Dales, marketing and fundraising.
Please ring Ann Shadrake on 01756 749400 or email Ann Shadrake, Executive Director for a chat and to set up a meeting/discussion with Mark.
